Special Projects and Professional Development Initiatives

The COE sponsors several special projects as well as grant-related and professional development initiatives designed to stimulate intellectual vitality, to create new knowledge, and engender passion for education as a profession (COE, 2001). The projects and initiatives enable the facilitation of global minded, technologically creative teacher preparation candidates.

The professional development initiatives involve partnerships that support the professional development of P-12 teachers, pre-service teachers, and University faculty who after participating in professional development activities provide enriched learning opportunities, especially in math and science, to P-12 students.

The Special Projects and Grant-Related/Professional Development Initiatives as shown on the left are:

  • Capitol Pre-College Academy for Boys and Girls
  • LIGO Science Partnership
  • Seminar in Education (CRIN 205)
  • Southern University Laboratory School Redesign

Each project and initiative will have a web page with links to web resources and Internet-available software. An instructional materials database will be linked to each web page where searches can be conducted according to database categories.
